The first shot of the game fell to the visitors on the edge of the box, but it proved to be an easy stop for Harrison Male.
The first chance to test a keeper came in the 9th minute. Alex Hunt playing a one-two pass with Ollie Pearce before going for a goal, but Jas Singh got a hand to tip the ball over.
Alex Newby nearly opened the scoring just moments later, but his shot from the edge of the box was well saved down low by Singh.
City were looking positive in the opening 15 minutes. Mark Kitching’s venomous strike taking a deflection goalwards but the ball struck the crossbar before Tamworth scrambled clear.
Ollie Banks was next to have a poke at goal, but his shot from the edge proved to be a comfortable save for Singh.
Tamworth were having little of the ball but did have a chance of their own when former City man Manny Duku looped a ball goalwards but it went over the bar in the end.
Singh was called into action with five left to play in the first half. Hunt feeding a slip ball through to Pearce who shot from a tight angle but the keeper was equal to it at his near post.
The final chance of the half came from a Joe Felix cross into the box which was met by the boot of Newby but his shot flew over the bar.
Like the first half, Tamworth had the first chance. Duku on a charge towards goal but Male raced off his line to collect.
Moments later and City had a chance down the other end. Tyrese Sinclair seeing his shot tipped over by Singh.

Ten minutes later and the score was doubled. A cross in from the right bounced around the box before it fell kindly to Alex Newby who drilled the ball home.
