York City executed a 4-0 victory at the LNER over Wealdstone FC following goals from Fagan-Walcott, Pearce and Newby.

The first chance fell Wealdstone’s way. Olfela Olomola scuffing his attempted effort before the rebound was shot just wide of the post.

Wealdstone had a chance just moments later, Micha Obiero firing a shot wide on the half-volley.

Omar Mussa had a good chance to open the scoring inside 15 minutes when he disposed City on the edge of the box but he blazed his shot over.

City first tested Dante Baptiste in the 17th minute. Mark Kitching with a venemous shot on the half volley, only to be denied by an acrobatic save.

The opener did come from the resulting corner, Malachi Fagan-Walcott getting his head onto a cross into the box who guided the ball in off the post.

Joe Felix tried for the audacious when he caught Baptiste off his line, unfortunately for Felix his effort bounced wide of the mark.

York doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Felix picking out Alex Newby from a great cross, Newby’s header was parried by Baptiste and into the path of Ollie Pearce who tapped the ball home.

Micha Obiero thought he had Wealdstone level with 10 to go in the first half but he was denied by the offside flag.

Some neat play from City inside the Wealdstone box at the start of the second half allowed Alex Hunt with room to shoot but he placed his shot just over.

Mussa once again found himself with a chance to shoot for the visitors, his shot from range forced Harrison Male into making a save down low.

Joe Grey had the Wealdstone defence running when he collected the ball inside his own half before running the entire length of the field before going for goal but Baptiste was the man in goal to deny him.

The lead was extended in the 59th minute when the ball was slipped through to the charging Pearce who bared down on goal before lifting the ball over the keeper and into the net.

Wealdstone were running out of options to get back into the game. Obiero with another chance at the near post but Male got down well to deny him.

City were running away with the game when a long ball forward was latched onto by Alex Newby who rolled the ball past Baptiste to extend the Minstermen’s lead even further.

There was to be no further action as the game ended 4-0.
