York City FC can confirm that defender Maxim Kouogun will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract to sign for National League North side Scunthorpe United.
The Cameroonian centre-back joined from League of Ireland side Shelbourne in January 2022 and made an important impact throughout the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, helping City earn promotion from National League North.
Kouogun remained a first-team regular during 2022/23, making 37 Vanarama National League appearances and scoring two goals as the Minstermen secured safety in our first season back in non-league’s top tier.
We would like to thank Max for his contribution over the last 16 months and wish him all the best for the future.
