Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Monday 13th May – Sunday 19th May marks Mental Health Awareness Week, and York City Football Club would like to echo the following message about the importance of mental health, as well as highlight some sessions conducted by the fantastic York City FC Foundation.

With Mental Health Awareness Week having commenced, we want to encourage supporters to feel more comfortable and confident in speaking about their mental health, not just this week specifically, but anytime throughout the year.

The theme for 2024 is movement – regular physical activity is known to improve mental health.

Mental health awareness is important because it can make people experiencing mental illness feel less alone and can make finding therapy and healthy coping mechanisms simpler. Spreading mental health awareness allows people to openly discuss their symptoms and fully understand what they are feeling and why.

The York City FC Foundation run a number of sessions to help support people throughout the week – which may be a great way to take a step in improving your mental health.
