York City will honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice at our upcoming Enterprise National League fixture at home to Rochdale AFC (7.45 pm kick off).
All supporters, staff and players in attendance are invited to come together to show support for the Armed Forces community and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We, York City Football Club, commit to honouring the Armed Forces Covenant and supporting the Armed Forces Community. We recognise the value that Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families contribute to our business and our country.
Prior to kick off, military personnel walk out together with the players alongside a standard-bearer.
Military will also lead match officials and players out with the match ball.
Wreaths will be laid on the pitch by both club captains prior to a sounding of the Last Post.
All supporters, staff and players will then pay their respects with a minute’s silence, ended by the sound of the referee’s whistle.
For one game only, we will wear an all black strip to commemorate remembrance, along with a red embroidered poppy on every shirt.
Ahead of this game we donated 50 tickets to ‘Tickets for Troops’ as well as offering complimentary tickets to local military personnel.
Following the fixture, all shirts will be auctioned off for charity with details to follow.
The matchday programme, available around the ground for £3, features a special poppy wreath cover, and also includes a piece from David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire. You can read that online here.
Tickets are still available to purchase for this fixture HERE.
