The Minstermen are pleased to be supporting local wrestler ‘Killjoy’ ahead of his upcoming fight which takes place in York at the end of the month.
Ahead of his debut fight in the City where he grew up, the football club have supported the local wrestler by supplying him with a 2023/24 shirt which he will wear on the night of the fight and he will walk out to ‘Disco Down’ by Shed Seven, at the event which will take place at the end of November.
Hosted by Sovereign Nation Wrestling, Pride and Glory 2023 will take place on Sunday 26th November, an evening consisting of six wrestling matches and a royal rumble.
A ticket for free admission for two adults and two children has been kindly donated to the football club by Sovereign Nation Wrestling, which can be won via our competition being run on all social media channels.
The event will take place at Melodie Park on Wigginton Road (YO32 2RJ), with doors opening at 1:30pm ahead of the first bell at 2pm.
Regarded as one of the youngest wrestlers in the country, the strike-based fighter, who resembles himself similar to ‘CM Punk’, has fought all around the North of England and gone up against some of the best young-and-upcoming wrestlers in the UK.
Speaking ahead of fighting for the first time in the City where he grew up, Killjoy said “It’s an honour to be able to wrestle in York for the first time.
“All friends will be there to annoy me in the crowd, but it’s something that I’ll thrive off and hopefully have a good fight on the night.
“I used to watch York a lot when I was younger and I remember starting to come to games with my dad at Bootham Crescent in around 2009, so I’m really thankful that they’ve been able to support me ahead of my upcoming match.”
Sovereign Nation Wrestling founder Chris Marston is also looking ahead to the upcoming event, saying “I’m really looking forward to the event at the end of the month, it’s my first event I am promoting, but it’s within a sport that I have been involved in since 2011.
