York City is thrilled to announce that The York Cuddle Bed Project has won the match sponsorship executive box for when we host Woking on Saturday, April 13th, kindly donated by Domestic Divas in March.
York City called upon charities / organisations from the local area to put their names forward to have the chance to provide an unforgettable experience to those who may deserve it most.
Thank you to all those who got in touch – it was an incredibly difficult decision, with so many different stories and work being done that touched us all deeply.
Graham and Karen, the owners of official club sponsor Domestic Divas, kindly donated an exclusive hospitality box dining experience for 10 people to enjoy in March.
The York Cuddle Bed Project are raising £35k to pay for two ‘Cuddle Beds’ for St Leonard’s Hospice.
These beds are special medical beds for end-of-life care, with all the functions of a hospital bed, it opens up to make a larger cuddle bed allowing husbands, wives, partners, family, anybody, to lay next to their loved one during a time they need it most.
Having lost a close family member last October at the age of 46, The York Cuddle Bed Project team realised just how valuable this piece of equipment could be.
The York Cuddle Bed Project team have in the space of four months managed to raise half the funds for these beds. All sorts of events have been undertaken, including one girl having her head shaved. Another group are walking 100,000 steps in 24 hours too, with it all being done out of love and recognising that there will be so many other families who will benefit from these beds.
The York Cuddle Bed Project team would love to acknowledge their selfless acts of kindness, and the lengths they are willing to go to support the project.
Speaking on the donation, Karen at Domestic Divas said: “We are thrilled that the York Cuddle Bed Project has won this fantastic prize.
“What a fantastically worthy cause, and something that surely means so much to so many of us.”
Domestic Divas have also kindly given up the signed shirt, which is a benefit of the match sponsorship, saying: “We would also like to offer the shirt we would receive to the York Cuddle Bed Project so that they can choose to raffle it to raise more money.
“I know the teams at Domestic Divas and Bubbles Inc will join me in wishing the York Cuddle Bed Project a wonderful day at York City on Saturday.
“Thank you so much Loraine [York City’s Hospitality & Retail Manager] and the whole team for organising this for us.”
