Matt & Julie-Anne Uggla would like to inform supporters with the following update…
“First of all, we would like to pay tribute to our fantastic and ever-growing fanbase. The demand for tickets yesterday is something we could have only dreamed of when we bought the club back in summer 2023.
“From queuing outside the stadium at 7am, the 2,500+ trying to access the website and the sound of the phone ringing at every opportunity shows us just how valuable you all are to the future of this club.
“We know that a lot of you will be extremely disappointed in being unable to secure tickets for our semi-final game. We share your frustration, but unfortunately, our website infrastructure was not built to be able to withstand the sheer number of supporters in one go. We inherited this website in 2023, and following on from yesterday’s disappointment, we are already exploring the potential to upgrade our servers to avoid that from ever happening again. For this, we can only apologise.
“Although the disappointment of yesterday may be a lot to some, we have to stick together and look to the positives. The fact that we could potentially have sold out the LNER twice over is a real testament to just how much you, as the supporters, have bought into us as a club, as well as your belief in Adam, the coaching staff and all of the players. Because of this, we have spoken with a local venue to potentially set up a live screening in York City centre to allow supporters unable to go to the game to still congregate in a fan environment.
“As a club, we are very proud to say we have just exceeded our record season ticket sales in our current ground with now 2,967 of you all committing to the club for next season!
“In this next chapter, whatever league that might be, we are exploring options to launch a potential loyalty system for supporters. Such a system has not been necessary in the past, but we all know just how much this fanbase and club are growing, and we understand the need for one in the future.
“We would finally like to address you, as the fans. We hear every single one of you, on social media or in person. Every one of you has a voice for this football club.
“Up the Minstermen!”
