York City FC has often featured local youngsters in its first team, which can be traced back to the earliest fixtures in the 1920s. Now a thriving youth development setup, featuring teams from U9 to U19, we commit to providing our players with a minimum of:
- 2 x 90-minute training sessions per week, the majority led by a mixture of A-License and B-License coaches
- Weekly goalkeeper specific training sessions
- Multiple individual development reviews per season
- Access to weekly strength and conditioning sessions
- Performance analysis
- Physiotherapy support
- Participation in the Junior Premier League (matches on Saturdays)
- Extra matches in the North Riding FA County Cup (U12s -16s only, matches on Sundays)
- We also look to organise appropriate level friendly fixtures with different opponents to continue to stretch players.
In the Easter Holidays, we are holding open trials for the boys U8-U16 age groups. Successful trialists will be invited to train and play with their age group until the end of the current season. From there, selections will be made for the 2025/26 season squads.
Players who are unsuccessful at this trial opportunity, may be invited to trial with York City FC Foundation’s Player Pathway to ensure that every possible chance to be part of York City FC is available.
