York City complete signing of centre-back Tyler Cordner

The Minstermen are pleased to announce the signing of defender Tyler Cordner from Aldershot Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old centre back joined The Shots last summer from Weymouth and made a big impact for the Hampshire-based club in 2022/23, netting 9 times in 50 appearances as he earned a number of awards at the end of the season, including the club’s player of the season award.

His impressive form on the pitch last season also saw him get called up to the England C squad against Wales in March earlier this year, where he captained the Three Lions to a 1-0 victory at Altrincham’s Moss Lane.

The central defender originally came through the youth ranks at Championship side AFC Bournemouth, before gaining valuable experience on loan in non-league with Havant and Waterlooville and Ebbsfleet United, as well as in the Football League with Scunthorpe United and Southend United.

On joining the Minstermen, Cordner said: “I’m delighted.

“It was quite an easy process. Thank you to Aldershot for having me last year. I’m here now, a York City player, and I can’t wait to get going.”

The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
