York City FC | Her Game Too

We are pleased to say that this Saturday’s fixture against Forest Green Rovers will be our dedicated ‘Her Game Too’ matchday!

Founded in May 2021, Her Game Too is a voluntary campaign led by a team of dedicated female football fans who are passionate about creating a positive change in football and the wider sporting world.

They aim to raise awareness and educate others on the importance of inclusivity and diversity in sports. Their ultimate goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their background, ability, or gender.

They believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in sports and have access to the same resources and opportunities. At Her Game Too, they not only want to raise awareness, but also offer education to promote a safe and inclusive sporting culture. Their team is committed to driving positive change and making a real difference in the world of sports. Join them in our mission to make sports accessible and inclusive for all.

York City co-chair, Julie-Anne Uggla said: “It’s about inclusivity and about making sure that all females, whether they are supporters, working within the football industry, or players, that they all feel safe and respected, and that they know there is an open door for them to work within that industry”.

In the build up to this fixture, York City sat down with a number or volunteers staff members and sponsors all around this campaign and what it means to them.

The City of York is proud to support women in football and offering equal opportunity to all. Gals FC, the fast-growing women’s recreational football club, has very recently launched it’s first game in York. They offer weekly sessions every Thursday evening at York Sports Village.
