The Minsterbelles are delighted to have the support of the York City Football Club Vice Presidents Association for our upcoming fixture against Norton & Stockton Ladies on December 11th at the LNER Community Stadium.
The Vice Presidents Association unanimously voted in favour of sponsoring the Ladies second ever fixture at the LNER which is fast approaching.
We sat down to have a chat with Malcolm Dawson, Chairman of the Vice President’s Association…
Why did you want get involved with the Ladies and sponsoring the Ladies match?
“I went to both Leeds games (this season) and they were both superb, I’ve been shocked but pleasantly and unbelievably surprised at how good and how technically good the ladies are and it’s great to watch, it’s good entertaining football.
“I have been aware of the fabulous work that Paula has done over the years with the Foundation and given the success of the Lionesses it has obviously made a huge impact across the country with ladies football it was an ideal opportunity to see if the Vice Presidents could be involved”, he continued.
The York City FC Vice President’s Association was formed in 1980 and is another way of supporting the club with the aim of raising funds through a number of fundraising events and membership.
What is the Vice President’s Association and what is required of a VP?
“If someone wants to be a Vice President, to be a Vice President you’ve got to be a fan, you’ve got to be interested in assisting the fund raising, attend matches where possible and participate in the lunches and the dinner events as well as the other arranged events to support the club, that’s the only real stipulation, nothing other than that.
“It’s open to anyone that’s interested.
