Here is a rundown on how the York City Ladies teams got on over the weekend.

Reserves

The Reserves started the game on the front foot and were rewarded for their efforts when Izzy Eaton won the ball high up the pitch, before playing in Ruby Gibbs who’s through ball found Ruby Watt to fire home into the far corner to put York in front after 15 minutes.

The game was end-to-end but it was Middlesbrough who were able to find the next goal as the forward lifted the ball over the onrushing Erin Rodgers to bring the game back level.

The second half was played out evenly with both teams looking for the next goal, it was Middlesbrough who were able to find the decisive goal when a corner from the right found the Boro player unmarked to head home.

York continued to create chances with Ruby Watt going close moments before Amelia O’flaherty had efforts blocked and saved and the chances continued to come as the Middlesbrough defender was on hand to clear a Kerry Heslop effort off the line after the Goalkeeper had made an important block from her first attempt.

In the final moments, York continued to push forward and thought they should have had a penalty when Heather Smith was bundled over from behind in the area but the referee waved away any protests.

The Reserves now have a week off but the Development Team are back in action on Sunday when they play their final match of the season against Brunsmeer.
