York City launch matchday audio devices for blind or partially sighted supporters

York City are proud to continue building on our ever-increasing accessibility provision with the launch of audio devices on matchday.

Blind or partially sighted supporters can loan a matchbox-size audio device to hear real-time audio commentary of the match from BBC Radio York, from any stand in the ground.

Using a radio streaming service can have a delay, however our devices bring it in real time to those supporters inside the stadium.

A thank you to Steve Machen from Scarborough Athletic for introducing us to this resource, which they have used successfully for some time and have noticeably had a really positive impact on their community.
