York City to host Grimsby Town at LNER Community Stadium for 2024/25 pre-season

York City will host Grimsby Town at the LNER Community Stadium this pre-season on Saturday, July 20th (3pm kick off).

It’s a sixth confirmed pre-season fixture for Adam Hinshelwood and his squad now.

City have four home ties and two on the road.

The Mariners finished 21st in their second consecutive season back in League Two.

A tough start, with only three wins from 16, saw the North-East Lincolnshire-based side make a managerial switch last season, bringing in David Artell.

Eight further wins followed for Grimsby, securing their League Two status for another campaign.

City last faced Grimsby in a competitive fixture back in 2012, winning 3-2 in the closing seconds.

A 90+3rd minute Jamal Fyfield goal saw York take all three points at Blundell Park after goals from Jamie Reed and Chris Smith initially put the Minstermen ahead.

It will be the first time Grimsby have visited the LNER Community Stadium.
