New Yorkie and Original Yorkie both took part in Sunday’s Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse, as they raised money for York City FC charity partners.
Our Yorkies had lots of fun on the day, meeting other mascots, chucking water over each other, and giving it their all (kind of) in the ultimate race.
Following the race, the Yorkies gave their thoughts:
“So, it’s not quite the last-place finish we were after despite our valiant efforts.
“We felt guilty about two elderly ladies dressed as rabbits and therefore stumbled over the line.
“We did, however, entertain the crowd, and surely there’s a steward’s enquiry about the most entertaining mascot… a tin of something which entertained nobody at all.
“We move on, and next year, we plan an assault on winning the race, so we either shape up, or we find a proper runner.
“Hinsh has shown how things improve in 12 months… let’s do the same!”
So far, an incredible figure of £2,850 has been raised, and there’s still time to donate! Click here.
