York City scored another four goals to defeat Brackley Town at the LNER Community Stadium this afternoon.

Hiram Boateng had the first shot of the game inside 4 minutes. His left-footed effort from the edge of the box took a deflection to take it just wide of the post.

Alex Hunt was next to shoot from a similar position. His effort also took a deflection to drag the ball wide of the mark.

It took just 19 minutes for City to get the breakthrough. Ollie Banks with a looped ball across the box towards Josh Stones who rose highest to plant a header past Jonny Maxted and into the net.

York nearly had a second after half an hour when Zak Johnson got onto the end of a Boateng corner. His header rattled the crossbar before the rebound was hit by Stones but somehow was hooked off the line by the visitors.

Malachi Fagan-Walcott had a chance not long before half-time when he got onto the end of a Jeff King ball in. His header at the back-post went wide of the left-hand post.

Fagan-Walcott also had the first chance of the second half when he got on the end of a long Alex Hunt ball towards the back post. The shot from City’s no.4 could only go over the bar from his left foot.

Ollie Banks nearly added a third not long after. Alex Newby fed in a teasing cross from the left which fell kindly to the City midfielder who shot first time but his effort was well saved by Maxted.

Shane Byrne launched a rare shot goalwards for Brackley. The effort from outside the box wasn’t able to test Harrison Male as it flew high over the bar.

Greg Olley rolled in a third goal for York in the 71st minute when he latched onto a Hunt through ball. Olley placed the ball onto his left-foot before shooting past Maxted to further extend the lead.

The final chance resulted in City’s fourth and final goal of the game. Alex Newby saw a shot saved by Maxted but only into the path of Ollie Pearce who placed the ball in from inside the box.
