MINUTES SILENCE
Remembering David Longhurst – 35 Years On
Today marks 35 years since the tragic passing of David Longhurst, during a home game against Lincoln City at Bootham Crescent.
A talented forward with spells at Nottingham Forest, Halifax Town, Northampton Town, and Peterborough United before arriving at Bootham Crescent, he had already made a strong impression. In his short time with the Minstermen, David became a popular figure among his teammates and supporters.
His legacy continues to live on across the club and the city. At the LNER Community Stadium, the Persimmon South Stand banner proudly carries his name, and his portrait is displayed on the City Wall, a permanent reminder of his place in York City history.
At Bootham Crescent, where the David Longhurst Stand once stood, the housing development now includes David Longhurst Way. The street sign was unveiled by his friends and family last November.
These tributes serve as lasting symbols of the impact David made in such a short space of time. More than three decades on, he remains part of the fabric of York City Football Club.
Each year, we pause to remember David and honour his memory. We ask that you join us in a minute’s silence before kick-off at tomorrow’s home game against Tamworth.
He will never be forgotten.

We continue to offer our younger fans the chance to get creative and join in the fun with ‘Lego in the Library’ pre-match.
Courtesy of our friends at York Explore Library, we have boxes of Lego available to play with, from 1:30pm and 2:30pm on Saturday.
In addition, there will now be a colouring station, where you can show off your best artwork with our crayons and pencils.

LOST CHILD WRISTBANDS
Like last weekend we will have Lost Child wristbands available free of charge. Available from all programme sellers, Lego in the Library, and Club Shop, these disposable wristbands have plenty of space for your key information so you can be confident that your child will be safe in an emergency. We encourage anyone attending with children to pick one up at each home fixture and make it part of your match day routine.
FOUNDATION FAN ZONE STAGE – SPONSORED BY JORVIK RADIO
Vagabond will be performing on the foundation fan zone stage!
Vagabond came together in 2023, when three 15-year-olds, decided to start something loud and different. What began as jam sessions quickly turned into a band with a mission: to bring back the raw, unfiltered sound of punk rock. With influences ranging from classic punk legends to modern indie sounds, we’ve spent hours crafting original songs. We’ve played at places such as the York vaults and are working hard to make our mark on the local music scene. This is just the beginning…
